Compare The Maps

The Armada Maps are a vibrant and compelling account of the Armada campaign, ‘armada’ being the Spanish word for ‘fleet’. Created shortly after the English victory over the Spanish, these maps are a contemporary picture into some of the most significant events of this ill-fated invasion attempt and give an impressive level of insight into the fleet formations, routes, and battles that took place.

The impact of this collection does not end here though, as each individual map is linked to a different engraved version created in 1739 by John Pine, at a time when England and Spain were again at war. These engraved versions tell the same story but for a new audience in a flamboyant rococo style.
